Ethics Awareness Training

It’s not always easy to speak up, even when we know it’s the right thing to do. The ability to effectively question and respectfully challenge is at the core of our capability to maintain high standards of integrity. Voicing our Values, Lockheed Martin’s annual ethics awareness training, provides a forum for employees to see the roadblocks they can face in mustering the courage to address issues, and to explore how they might handle similar circumstances.

2019 annual training began with Lockheed Martin President and CEO, training the executive leadership team. The leaders trained by the CEO then train their respective teams, and this cascade continues until all employees have participated in a training session facilitated by their manager.

During the training, participants gather in small groups to view several video scenarios, which reflect real situations that have occurred, or might occur at Lockheed Martin. Participants discuss the cases and talk about how to apply the Voicing Our Values techniques - Ask Questions, Obtain Data, Talk to Others, Reframe the Issue,  and how to Report Violations.

Recognizing the unique environment we are in, we are reinventing our annual Ethics Awareness Training (EAT) for 2020. Our popular Voicing our Values EAT program was produced and ready to go. But it's clear that in person, leader-led, small group discussions are likely to be impractical for most of our workforce this year. So, instead, we will bundle a unique online EAT course with the updated 2020 Code of Conduct that will be released in late September. The combined training, delivered entirely online, will underline both our values themselves and the Voicing our Values techniques we reinforce annually in EAT.

Our Ethics Awareness Training materials are made available on to enable all employees to complete their annual training. Academic institutions can license Lockheed Martin's Ethics Awareness Training videos free of charge for use in classrooms. For more information, contact the  Corporate Ethics Office.
